aCIP® is a concept and toolbox for intelligent information management invented and developed by Adentia AB. During over 30 years of consultancy within Critical Infrastructure Protection and Physical Security we have been missing "something" to structure and record all various kinds of information involved in complex projects or organizations. The normal tool package of Word, Excel and a file storage area is simply not good enough, according to us. Unless your business idea is to create as many consultancy hours as possible, something that is however not always appreciated by the customer.

After searching the world around for a suitable tool, without success, Adentia decided in 2010 to develop that "something" that is now the aCIP®-concept. After being used with success within Adentia's consultancy services as a tool, or rather the tool, for recording, structuring, and analysing practically all information involved in its Physical Security projects since 2013, aCIP® was 2016 launched as a product on the market. After introducing aCIP® internally, Adentia is substantially reducing the hours spent on its projects while increasing the quality and adding numerous other advantages to the customer.

aCIP® consists of a database, a software (aCIP®-client), frameworks and configurations.

The aCIP® database is installed on site in a Microsoft SQL Server or in the cloud on Microsoft Azure or any other compatible cloud-based database provider. For smaller amount of data and just and single users, even the free SQL Express edition can be used. The database is always the same, not matter how you like to use aCIP®. It can be setup for requirement management, configuration management, project management, security systems inventory, fraud intelligence or even for keeping track of the books at a community library without changing anything whatsoever in the database.

This software is designed with the most modern technologies and is intended to be used on Microsoft Windows 7 and newer. As with the database, the aCIP®-client is always the same and never changed for any specific needs or unique customers.

aCIP®-client can be run in four different modes: Read-Only, User, Administrator and Developer.

In the framework the application specific setup is done. This is where you configure aCIP® to be a requirement management system, a project management system, a system inventory, an intelligence tool or maybe a combination of those. In a simple Excel-sheet element types, relation types and how they can relate is setup. The framework is normally developed by subject matter experts. When ready, the framework sheet is compiled, and error checked with aCIP®-client in Developer mode. The compiled framework is then impossible to modify or read without the source. It is then easy to mail the framework to a local user that can import it to the local installation. The aCIP® infrastructure allows for consultants or others to develop their own framework based on their knowledge and ways of working. The IPR for such frameworks stays at the developer and is protected from copying and modifying.

In the configuration the customer specific setup is done. This is where you configure the data content (data fields, alternative lists, formatting etc) for the element and relation types defined in the framework. One configuration is always tied to one framework. A framework, on the other hand, can be tied to any number of configurations. The configuration is normally developed by a consultant in close co-operation with the customer. As with the framework, the configuration is then compiled, and error checked and can easily be sent to a user for import to the local installation.
